Professional Certificate Courses
The NBBTP provides individuals a unique opportunity to increase
their skills and knowledge while achieving professional recognition
of their abilities by enrolling in an NBBTP Professional
Certificate. The Operations and Maintenance NBBTP certificates are
designed for staff with responsibility for BSL2/BSL3 laboratory
equipment and operating systems; the Biosafety & Biocontainment
NBBTP certificates are designed for individuals currently working
in biocontainment laboratories. Requirements for the three-tiered
certificate programs are:
- Level I Certificate - Basic
Seven core and three elective B&B or O&M courses from the NBBTP catalog.
- Level II Certificate - Advanced
Level I certificate, plus four advanced B&B or O&M courses from the NBBTP catalog. IACET-qualifying courses provided by ABSA, ASM, AALAS, or Eagleson may be substituted for elective and advanced courses upon approval.
- Level III Certificate - Comprehensive
Level II certificate, plus practicum or demonstration of competencies, and final exam.
